I dreamed the mermaid !!!!!!!! short story

Where to begin this story and what to write? It remains mystery, some say it is not true, some may find it crazy… but it is true…… I really dreamed……….. !

I dreamed, The

mermaid!!!

We were getting bore sitting at home and watching television ( as usual watching same movies again and again).

It was summer time, my father promised that he had planned something special for us.

We also had planned that when our results are out, we would go some place nice for vacation, away from this noise and crowd to enjoy.

Then one day father said,’we are going……… to….. Goa!’. We were pretty excited to hear this news; in fact my sister began to crazy moves and dance madly when she heard about this.

The next day we got ready, early in the morning, packed our bags.

Finally we began our journey to Goa for vacation.

 We took train from here, and from there we took bus to reach hotel.

We reached there in the morning, we took taxi from there also to reach the resort, I mean hotel, and it took almost two days from my calculation to reach there but….

 We reached hotel...

 The hotel name was Bogmallo Beach Resort,

 Well, it was resort by the way. We checked in the hotel, and booked three rooms for us including for our parents also. And after that,’ finally, reached’ I said, and I took sign of relief.  ‘Wow! The hotel was pretty gorgeous. I had huge bed , TV in my bedroom, small refrigerator, plus bathroom also and one telephone just pick up and call room service and order anything and within half an hour you will get it for….. Free!!!!

Well, I was feeling kind of lucky this way, my mind was shouting saying’ life ho toh aisi!!!!

I made some new friends also, with the people who came with us, it was nice knowing them. We used to seat together for breakfast, lunch and dinner so thought it would be good knowing them and made friendship with them also………..

In the morning we began our tour, my father and some uncle had booked one small minivan for tour. My family (me, my brother and sister, my mother and my father) including some uncles and aunties along with their children also joined us in our tour we were much comfortable that they joined us and were happy also.

 We visited many places, first we visited few temples (Shanta durga temple, lord sankar temple) as mummy wanted to see it, so we visited there first, then we went to see,” Palacio water front ,and  blonda Lake” it was exciting this way. We were having great fun over there. There were some churches also but we didn’t go, as father had booked already some other places to see. We did many shopping and baid many things.  

‘Don’t go here, don’t go there, don’t take this or that, you might get hurt put it down, you will break it, be careful’ my mummy was saying me, she was also scolding me. I was feed up of her scolding.

In the evening we came back, tired…………. And I just slept, feeling tired and exhausted.

  But we were having great fun over there.

 Another day, as I was playing near the sea on the beach, my father came madly and scolded, pulled me and instructed me not to or play near the sea, as I didn’t know how to swim and said I may drown  but ,I didn’t paid much attention to him and said’ yes papa, yes…….. I understand I will not do it again, I promise’.

‘They always scold me, I wish I was gone away from them and I don’t have to hear their bagging and scolding anymore,’ I said to myself. I just didn’t know what I was wishing for.

One day, I and my brother were playing volleyball near beach just for fun. My brother hit the ball so hard that it went directly near the sea.

 I went to recover it but ….. Whenever I came closer to ball, it used to go away, I got confused for while and went near to it.

Soon, I realized I had gone deeper and began…….. Drowning!!!!

Umps………… gulp……….

Water was going in my mouth…………… I was unable to breathe………/

 I tried very hard to swim but it was not any luck, I tried to shout for help! Help... but they were unable to hear me as they were far away.

Then high tide came from my back and took me, I mean swept me along with it. Soon I was drowning, breathing rapidly, unable to see anything properly,

 I began to think this end of me and closed my eyes. Then I saw one small boat passing nearby I just swam to it, though I don’t know how to swim? But just swam pushing my leg,

Finally, when I reached there.

I said, ‘I am safe, I am safe! ………… and reached for it. I climbed the boat, it was not easy but caught it and climbed, started breathing fastly.

 And after that I slept there taking sign of relief………….

After while,

 I opened my eyes slowly………..

 The sunlight was shining in my eyes but I opened it (eyes), I saw birds were flying in the sky. ‘Well, that’s where they fly na?’ I asked myself.

 I began to look around but it was water, may be resort is on my backside, so I turn back, but no, there was also water, I looked around, everywhere there was water.

 I was surrounded by water from all side! I began to panic! Shouting for help madly.

But for while, I thought my parents will soon send search team and I will be rescued and sat quietly in the boat,

 I waited …………. Waited for long time, but nothing came, I got tense and confused,

 I began thinking like what to do?????????????????

I was sitting in the boat, much time passed…….. I was still waiting..

Then I saw one boat from long distance, I tried to signal it, waved my both hand and started shouting for help.

‘Help! Help!!!! Baba help!!!!’ But they couldn’t see me.

Then I saw one light gun in my boat, I fired it! Thought they might see it.

But they didn’t see it and were soon disappeared…….. I was sitting on the boat staring…….with sad face.

Then I saw one stick in the boat, I took it and began to row the boat, but in which direction? I asked myself, maybe I will find island somewhere and began to row boat madly.

I rowed the boat, rowed it,

 That I forgot to notice rocks.

 My boat hit one of the rocks under the sea so hardly, and then there was one hole in the boat…….…… I kept staring at the hole…………..

 I began to say,’ oh god! Why? Why??? One problem is not enough, and that you created other also’.

 Water was coming……

 Now I really began to panic loudly.

The boat was sinking slowly …slowly………

I was getting feared while seeing the sea, I started shouting’ mummy! Mummy!!!! For your information, It was not Egypt mummy I was shouting, I was shouting for my mother,

 That is logic, whenever u are in trouble, you always remember your mother.

Then I saw one fin like shark, coming out of water and going inside. Well, I was afraid that way and thought it would be shark fin.
'Oh gad!!! help me plzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!' like that i bagan to panic.
It is another latest news, all the time you just don't remeber god every time but when you are in danger or trouble , you remember him.

Later my mind went toward the boat,

My boat was sinking….

I tried my shoes in taking the water out, but it was not any luck.

Finally, the boat sank fully….

 And I was just holding one brick and was floating up.

Suddenly, I noticed something touching my leg!

I saw that fin again, but now it was coming toward me, I thought it would be shark and panicked.

While panicking I somehow left my hand from the brick, soon I began drowning……… and I went inside the sea,

I was not able to breath,

Soon everything around me seemed dark, I saw something coming towards me, I thought it must be shark , it would came near me and eat me(I have seen In movies like shark attack, shark night, deep sea it gives me fear about going in sea),

Well, it is happing now I thought and closed my eyes.

But somebody caught my hand and…………….. Kissed me on my lips…. For a while we were just kissing. I got confused and opened my eyes,

It was girl!!!!!!…………

I got confused and began to think how any girl would come here???? I was staring at her with confusing look………. With many question in my head,

But there was some spark in her while seeing,

 she had glowing face, kind of attractive, golden brown hair, her eyes were blue , body covered with sparkle, it was shining like star,  she seemed nothing less than moon I thought,

 Then I saw closely to her,

 Two eyes, ok

 Two hands, ok

 One face, ok, hair also and she had blue eyes well, it is strange but it is not different many girls had it I said to myself.

‘Well, she is human’ I said to myself then I saw towards her leg…

There were no legs………

I was shocked, what I saw……. She had no legs…….. .

  What I mean is, she had……

 Fins!!!!

She had fins just like fish has…..

For a while, I kept staring at her with my mouth open with wide eyes…….i just, I didn’t know what to say to her or talk to her I just kept holding her hand because I knew, if I left her hand, I will fall or drown.

 Then I spoke,’ I don’t know how to swim, I just don’t know how the hell I came here? I am lost, please help me!!!’ I said,

 But, she kept staring at me,

 I thought maybe she can’t understand me or my language, she doesn’t know?  Well, what do you think I am? Encyclopedia, Madrasi, or Dr- Doolittle or any other, who will know some other language also……… and that, will talk to this human fish, I asked myself.

I did some crazy action or moves to make her understand me.

   But she kept staring at me………….. Well tired, I said,’ i don’t know any other language please help me!!

She just said,’ climb on my back’.

My mouth open…. For a while and kept looking at her……

‘Hummm ………..Well, she can understand me and my language’ I said to myself.

I saw trust in her eyes and kindness in her voice.

I stopped doing those crazy moves and climbed on her back. I noticed something strange happening to me ………

I mean I was able to breathe under sea!!!!!

 Well, why not? I have read that in books, that kiss from mermaid can help you to breath under deep sea. And that’s when I knew that she was mermaid.

I climbed on her back, hold her tightly.

Soon, we began to swim…………..

We swam…………. Swam………..

She took me at the bottom of the sea, I thought she might not eat me.

We came near huge cave, glass cave, it was made from glass, there were some stone also and had some beautiful flower also and one gate.

As soon as the mermaid went near the gate, it opened…….. We entered the cave, it was beautiful, amazing thing I had ever seen, there were other mermaids also, they were staring at me………….. as we passed through gallery, we saw an old man, with mouche,  bread on his face in white color was sitting on the thrown with trishul like weapon in his hand.

When he stood up, everyone bowed down, it didn’t took me time to know that this man was king.

The mermaid walked toward him and said’ father, I found this creature in the middle of the sea’.

Father! She was his daughter.

‘Hello! By the way I am not creature, I am human’ I said to myself. I wanted to say but remained silent.

The king called me near him and asked me how I came here?

‘Well, I also don’t know this answer, your majesty’, I said.

I told him everything about how I ended up here.

‘Father, help this creature’ the mermaid said. I mean his daughter.

  ‘My Girl, I cannot do anything and beside where he has come from …….. We can’t go there, it is prohibited to go there, and human might kill us, if they saw us’. The king said with serious voice.

‘So…………. what do you think to do with this creature?’ the mermaid asked.

‘ I am sorry boy but I can’t help you, As for now, and for others safety, it is better that u leave him, where you found him’ the king said with loud voice. 

‘No! No! Please, I beg you, please, I just want to go home’ I said. But he didn’t paid much attention toward me.

The mermaid had no option and took me along with her, she took me to the same spot where she found me, she helped me to stand on the rock, holding it so that I might not fall in the sea again,

‘I just want to go home, please help me!! please help me!!!!’ I scouted and said with nervous face. But she just turns back and went from there.

I remained helpless over there, holding the rock…………

Many hours passed but no one came………..

Finally, I saw the fin and thought it must be the mermaid and left my hand from the rock. As soon as I began to go down ……………… I was horrified to see what was coming toward me…..

It was……….. it was……

Shark!!!!

My legs began to shake with fear.

It was coming toward me………… toward me. and I was falling in down going deeper in the sea. At least thanks to mermaid kiss, I was breathing in the sea but for what to see? ‘Death coming…… towards you’ my mind said. Hahaha, very funny, I thought.

Aree, think something nice and protective, ‘shark is coming towards me, do something’ I said

‘What should I do? I am only your mind, if you die then I will also follow you’ my mind said.

‘Wah!’ I said,’ what a great advice’.

Shark was coming ………towards me ……. I just closed my eyes.

When I opened my eyes after some time, I saw the mermaid standing in front of me and the shark had gone away.

‘I told you to stay holding the rock, why did you leave it then?’ mermaid said.

‘I …………I am sorry’ I said.

‘Well……… I will help you to go home’ mermaid said. I was excited to hear this. ‘Oh thank you!!!! Thank you very much’ I said to her.

I just claimed on her back and put my arms around her neck to hold tightly.

Soon, we began our journey.  

We swam………. Swam crossed many seas. I also saw many different fishes, the world under the sea was so different complete silence and beautiful scenery I liked to see under the sea, I even saw dolphins and also touched them

Soon I realized I can swim. My fear about sea was all gone.

I don’t know what was happening, I was just staring at the mermaid, her smile was to see it was the best, whenever she used to smile, she used to look so cute.  

It was the best day of my life, I thought.

 I made friendship with mermaid,

One song was playing in my heart: Mujhko kya hua hai (‘How should I know that?)
Arre kyon main kho gaya hoon(who said you to be like that)
Ay paagal tha main pehle (‘ya, that is true, I have become some crazy in the past few days’)
Ya ab ho gaya hoon
Behki hai nigahein 
Aur bikhre hain baal(‘come inside water and you will know how it is?’ I was thinking kind of this things)
Tumne banaya hai
Kya apna ye haal
Koi mil gaya koi mil gaya
Mera dil gaya mera dil gaya

What happen? She asked.

‘nothing, it is just daydreaming’ I said.

‘Chup ye (keep silence)……… !’ I said to my heart. She saw to me but nothing said.

Finally we reached the till where she can go.

‘Stop!’ she said.

‘Stop! I can’t go any more further of this line,(pointing at mark made on the stone), it is prohibited for me’ she said’ you have to continue your journey alone from here’.

  

I felt very bad to leave her like that and go this way but I had to go ( to my parents). I just hugged her and kissed her on her cheeks and said good bye. There were tears in my eyes but hided it.

I began my journey alone and began to swim to north direction that’s what the mermaid said to me as I was going. 

There was one bad witch, she used to collect human soul and used to perform black magic on them. She smelled me passing nearby and sent two sharks to catch me. 

As I was swimming, I saw something black at distance …………… coming towards me. When it became clear, I saw two sharks coming toward me.

But the mermaid said there is no shark in this region. Then how come?

I saw them more clearly, they were in black in color and had red eyes. I didn’t know what to do? But I realized that I had one pocketknife with me.

One shark came fastly toward me, I just stood there, holding the small pocket knife in my hand, as soon as the shark came near to bite me, I stabbed him with my knife and the shark just disappeared along with –my knife………  I was confused to see that.

 Another shark was on its way toward me, I had lost one knife while killing one, I just stood there with my fist high (like Jackie Chan) I thought may be shark can die with one punch …………….. or not my mind said.

It was coming closer and closer……….

When it came very close, my hand began to shake with fear and I closed my eyes………..

Well, it was taking longer time to reach me so I opened one eye to see where is it? Their was nothing at first so I opened both my eyes.

There was nothing so I turned back.

Boooo……

.

’Yah!!!!!!! ‘I shouted.

The mermaid was standing on the backside of me.

I was surprised to see her.

‘How Come u, came here? And why did u crossed the line, it was prohibited na?’ I asked (angrily).

‘For u’ she said.

‘For me?’ I said when I heard this, ( eyes extremely open and I was staring at her. )

 ‘Well you see, we don’t leave friends alone, and by the way, I wanted to help you na, that’s why I came’ she said.(she had little smile on her face)

After hearing that I said’ wow! I am impressed’.

'stop it yar! she is memrmaid.' i said to my heart.

‘Can u swim? She asked. The shark had nearly wounded one of my leg and I was unable to move it.

‘No, I … don’t think so’ I said nervously.

‘In that case,ummmmm, hope on my back, I will carry u’ she said

 My reaction was like this.....

'Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!' I said but not in front of her but when she turned back. (with little naughty smile on my face)

I was just staring at her.............(emotional)

Now there was another song playing in my heart:

‘stop, day dreaming again! climb soon’ she said.

How could i say to her what was happening in my heart............ .

I just hoped on her back, put my arms around her neck and hold her tightly.

Wow!! It was so nice. I thought.

we began to swim together………………

We were little distance from reaching the shore…………….

 When suddenly, it started to become dark……….

We were confused about what is happening? Then …….. something appeared in front of us.

It was the same witch who sends those sharks to catch me. she had shabby hairs, black eyes, one dark mole on her face, and her teeth were some broken and dirty. She looked horrible.

‘Hand over the boy to me and I will spare u’ the witch said

 But the mermaid refused her to hand me to her……. and war broke out between them. It was like fire cracker to me.

The witch using her wand to do magic and the mermaid using her fist magic to fight against her and protect me. The fight for longer time…..

Finally, the witch used her magic wand on me ……… but the mermaid came in between  In the ensuing melee, a spell from her wand rebounds off mermaids body  armor which was of silver and disintegrates her,

‘No! No! It can’t happen!!’ the witch shouted.

 I mean it reflected back on the witch, when it hit her she just dissolved in the sea.

The mermaid got little hurt but was fine.

We continued our way to shore………………

 I could feel the sand near the feet.

I turned to the mermaid, ‘Thank you! Thank you very much for helping me to reach here.’ I said

‘Come with me to land’ I said.

‘How can I? And beside I need water for survival’ the mermaid said.

‘How will I find u?’ I asked

‘There is no need to find me, I will find you, just think, I am with u ‘ she said

‘I don’t feel like leaving you? And go, I feel much safer with u’ I said.

‘And why is that?’ she asked.

She kissed me on my forehead,

Because……….. Because!.. As if I had nothing to say to her, but I just kept looking at her.

‘Hey, I forgot to ask your name? What is your name?’ I asked

She said’ my name is……………’ but before she could complete her sentence, one white light flashed through my eyes and everything became looking blur……

But when it started to become clear…

I noticed…….. my parents sitting beside me with two life guard and hotel manger. Staring at me

I just hugged my parents with tears in my eyes…..

 ‘Are you all right, son, I told you not to go in the sea but you never listen’ father said scolding me.

‘I am sorry father’ I said

 My mother just holds me in her arms and started crying.

I just don’t know what was happening? I started sraching my head.

I told him about this girl who came with me.

‘ u almost gave us scare, and u were unconscious for almost half an hour, thank god this life guard saw you and pulled u out of water and another thing you never left this island in the first place,’ my father said.
i just saw the boat,it was the same boat on which i had climbed and  it was on the beach safe and not a scratch on it at all, i was confused........... i just kept staring at the boat..

In truth I never met the mermaid, I didn’t do those entire things which I did in the sea, I started to remember all those memories they were just dream!! I thought.

I just couldn’t believe that it was dream and I never got her name also………. but for me she was just mermaid……. Mermaid. I dreamed the mermaid.

 That night when I was sitting on the bench remembering the mermaid, my father came and sat beside me. He said

‘I know you are angry on me ……… that I was so strict on you and I was scolding you………….. well, that’s what father duty, isn’t it? They are careful about their children, I did the same and I am sorry for that.’ He said.

I just looked at him…..

‘No, papa …….. You were always right about everything……… I am sorry…. For late understanding, I am sorry papa…..’I said.

We both hugged each other (I saw tears coming out of father eyes) and went inside the hotel.

In the morning we were on our way back to home, when the driver stopped the car and went out to recover something.

I was looking at the sea…… I was not afraid of it any more.

While looking at the sea…….. I saw something sitting on the stone and waving at me. I don’t know who was it? But waved my hand to it.

Then my father called me from back, I looked back to answer him, but when I looked back at sea, the thing was gone. I  saw only two fins………

I don’t know who was it? But my heart said it was the same mermaid……… which I dreamed.

 why I wanted her to stay with me?????? Because I liked her.

” I like u!!!”  shit, I never got chance to tell her that................

'why do we come to know the impotance of things after they are gone? why can't we feel it when they are near us?' i asked myself.

 And he said' well that is nature law and we have to accept it.'

Song playing now emotional: Hai Mera Dil, Churake Le Gaya Churane Wala, Mera Katil... Hai Mera Dil, Churake Le Gayi, Churane Wali, Meri Katil...

'But she was not killer but savior' I said to my heart.
she taught me one thing and it is usefull: respect elders, whenever their is darkness, light is always near by, and always be fearless.
